The OSU Monthly Campaign Update tracks progress toward our $625 million campaign goal and showcases the impact philanthropy makes on OSU students, the state of Oregon, and our world.
Donors committed $7.2 million to The Campaign for OSU during July and August, bringing the total to $615.1 million, within shouting distance of our original goal of $625 million. Learn more about campaign progress as of August 31.
With this exciting milestone in sight, the summer has been a busy time of planning for the campaign extension. Plans will be shared more broadly on Friday, October 22, when the OSU family will gather to honor our most generous contributors at the annual President's Dinner (this year's honorees include Pete deLaubenfels, recently featured in the Corvallis Gazette-Times for his gift to the College of Veterinary Medicine).
Over the summer, we've made great progress on the Provost's Faculty Match, an innovative program designed to spur private investment in OSU's faculty. Two families made the first gifts qualifying for the match: Lee and Connie Kearney of Vancouver, Wash., committed $2.5 million to create two faculty endowments in OSU's College of Engineering, and Thomas W. Toomey of Evergreen, Colo., committed $500,000 to create a faculty endowment in the College of Business (in addition to an equally generous gift to the college's building project).
Funded by the OSU Provost's Office, the Provost's Faculty Match Program has the potential to leverage more than $20 million in private support for endowed faculty positions that support the priorities identified in the university's strategic plan (see more on page 5 of this PDF of the fall Oregon Stater). Expect to hear more good news soon about gifts to create endowed faculty position funds, which have been fast-tracked as a result of this unique match opportunity.
As the university prepares to welcome almost 24,000 students on campus for the fall term, the entire community has 100 million reasons to celebrate: over the summer, gifts from friends and alumni pushed The Campaign for OSU past its $100 million goal for scholarships and fellowships. In this campaign update, learn about the impact contributors to our successful "$100 Million for Students" scholarship initiative are making today not only on the lives of students but on Oregon and the world.
