Impact

Many of the 100 commitments of $1 million or more that have been made to the campaign to date have catalyzed major facility projects on campus: the Linus Pauling Science Center, Kearney Hall, the Hallie Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families (now under construction), the Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Reser Stadium, and more. Gifts of this size also provide vital support for scholarships, faculty, and programs.

Million-dollar gifts make an enormous difference:

The campaign's 100th gift of $1 million or more was a contribution to the Athletic Department from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous. The gift brought OSU Athletics past the $108 million mark on the way toward its $129.5 million campaign goal. Beaver Nation is stepping up in a big way to support student-athletes and build a nationally-competitive program. It's especially encouraging to see progress on the drive to increase the number of donors to the Beaver Athletic Student Fund to 12,000 by 2012. The program has seen 500 new donors so far this year. FOR THE WORLD: Health Research and Education
Over the years Pete deLaubenfels and his late wife, Leila, have supported the College of Veterinary Medicine with several gift annuities. This spring he documented plans in his will for an additional $1 million gift to the college that will create the Comparative Health Research and Education Fund. This endowment will support faculty research projects, scholarships, and public outreach programs which promote the understanding of comparative health — the interface between animal and human health. Cyril Clarke, Lois Bates Acheson Dean of Veterinary Medicine, discusses veterinary science's role in protecting human health in the Spring 2010 Terra magazine.
