The OSU Monthly Campaign Update tracks progress toward our $1 billion campaign goal, celebrates successes along the way, and, above all, showcases the impact philanthropy makes on OSU students, the state of Oregon, and our world.

Monthly Highlights

Allyn and Cheryl FordAs Oregon State University launched a new academic year, donor gifts brought the campaign total to $748.7 million by the end of September. Learn more about campaign progress.

In September and October the university community celebrated the completion of three campaign FACILITY initiatives: the Hallie Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families, the Linus Pauling Science Center, and the new Oregon State Boathouse. OSU also broke ground for the new track facility. A total of 19 campaign facility projects are now completed or underway.

As important as facilities are for OSU as an institution, ultimately the excellence of any university is determined by its FACULTY: the men and women who teach, guide, challenge, and inspire students, while advancing knowledge through their research and scholarly work.

As OSU's momentum continues to build and its student population grows, this fall the university hired 75 new faculty members, including educators from the London School of Economics, Harvard, Michigan, Brown, Wisconsin, and other leading institutions.

Campaign gifts are helping OSU recruit and retain outstanding scholars, educators, and scientists, particularly through faculty endowments. When The Campaign for OSU began, Oregon State had only 47 endowed faculty positions. Now that number has doubled — plus two — thanks in part to generous donors who participated in the Provost's Faculty Match Program. Through this 16-month program, donors made commitments totaling more than $21.3 million, establishing or expanding 21 endowed faculty position funds.

One of the most exciting gifts to leverage the Provost's Faculty Match Program was announced in September: the Cheryl Ramberg and Allyn C. Ford Deanship of Forestry, named in honor of the donors (pictured). Endowed with a $5 million commitment, this is OSU's third endowed deanship and the second to be created during the campaign.
