OSU's College of Forestry is one of the best forestry schools in the world. Our faculty and students have made major advances in the health and economic progress of one of the planet's most sustainable resources. Today, the college is preparing to meet the critical economic, environmental, and climate challenges facing our world by leading forest research and education.

Through the campaign, the College of Forestry seeks investments to educate future leaders and develop the research to best manage and conserve our forests to benefit people in Oregon and worldwide.

Campaign Goals

People

Endowed deanship to ensure strong leadership for the college and provide a permanent resource that can be applied entrepreneurially for the greatest impact for generations to come.

Endowed chairs and professorships, particularly in the areas of: forest tree genomics and biotechnology; planted forest productivity; forest soils; green building with wood; and natural resource law and policy

Scholarships and fellowships to help recruit and retain tomorrow's forestry leaders. Qualified applicants currently outnumber available scholarships by two to one

Programs

Dean's Fund for Excellence and Innovation contributions, providing flexible funds to support research and teaching initiatives, recruit faculty, and purchase needed equipment

Highlights

The college is the acknowledged research leader among the forestry colleges in North America, according to a survey published in the Journal of Forestry.

OSU innovations include a new, soy-based wood glue, which Columbia Forest Produces now uses in the production of interior plywood, dramatically reducing residential and commercial air pollution.

At Hinkle Creek watershed in southern Oregon, OSU scientists collaborate with Roseburg Forest Products and USGS scientists on what is arguably the largest, most sophisticated study of forest practices in the nation.
