examples:

Current Support: A donor gives $100,000 to support a building project. This gift immediately funds construction costs.

  

Endowed Gifts: A donor gives $1 million to create an endowed scholarship fund. Each year 4.5 percent of the fund (approximately $45,000) becomes available to support students. Additional investment gains are reinvested so the fund and annual payout amount grow over time.
