Faculty Event
At the Recognizing Faculty Excellence event on May 5, Oregon State University honored its newest Distinguished Professors and recognized faculty holding endowed positions and members of prestigious national academies. On hand to celebrate this collective excellence were members of the OSU Foundation’s 1868 Society, its lifetime giving society.
Corvallis President’s Circle Reception
On March 31, 2010, more than 130 alumni and friends enjoyed an evening of tapas and conversation at one of Corvallis' newest event venues, the Vue.
President Ed Ray described how OSU is making a difference in the lives of youth, from auctions organized by campus athletic teams to raise funds for children with disabilities, to science camps held on campus during the summer. Guests also heard from one of OSU's newest donors, Kasra Azizian '12, about how helping the youth of Corvallis through KidSpirit has changed his own life.
Destination OSU 2010
Destination OSU 2010 was a wonderful time of reconnection and celebration as more than 200 alumni and friends met in the California desert March 1 and 2.
This annual gathering featured a golf tournament at the Indian Wells Golf Resort, presentations by OSU faculty on the psychology of wine marketing and on new media ethics, plus an awards gala honoring three extraordinary friends of Oregon State University.
State of the University Address & Luncheon
On Jan. 20, 2010, in the Gerding Theatre at the Armory in Portland, President Edward J. Ray outlined the progress and aspirations of Oregon State University during his annual State of the University address.
More than 200 people heard the address and had the opportunity to engage in discussion with President Ray. The event was part of the OSU Business Roundtable series and was presented by the OSU Foundation and the OSU Alumni Association.
Construction launch of the
Linus Pauling Science Center
The centerpiece initiative of The Campaign for OSU took center stage Sept. 25, 2009, as more than 200 members of the OSU community gathered to celebrate the launch of construction on the Linus Pauling Science Center. The $62.5 million, 105,000-square-foot facility is the university's largest-ever academic building project.
Launch of the Hallie Ford Center
for Healthy Children and Families
On Sept. 9, 2009, at 9:09 a.m., Oregon State University launched the Hallie Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families, a new research initiative focused on the human lifespan, with a special emphasis on the physical, mental, and behavioral health of children. The center was made possible by a generous gift from the late Hallie Ford, and is part of the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Campaign for OSU Public Launch
Oregon State University friends, faculty, staff, and students joined President Ed Ray and members of the Campaign Steering Committee as OSU launched its first campus-wide fundraising effort on Oct. 26, 2007. A multimedia celebration at the LaSells Stewart Center highlighted students and faculty whose groundbreaking work is reaching throughout the state and around the world. The public launch was followed by a dinner
for several hundred of OSU's strongest supporters. Read more.
