OSU's philanthropic community celebrated the university's growing international impact at the 44th annual President's Dinner. The November 10 event at the Portland Art Museum attracted 300 guests.
On October 14, 2011, OSU community members and friends of the Linus Pauling Science Center gathered to celebrate the completion of this cornerstone project of The Campaign for OSU. Construction of this $62.5 million home of the Linus Pauling Institute and the Department of Chemistry was made possible through the generous support of the Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation and the family of Al and Pat Reser, along with gifts from 2,600 additional donors and a matching bond from the State of Oregon.
On September 8, friends and campus representatives gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Hallie Ford Center for Healthy Children & Families at Oregon State University. The center was made possible by the visionary gift of the late Oregon philanthropist, Hallie Ford.
On July 14, members of the President's Circle and 1868 Society gathered at the Majestic Theater in Corvallis for a reception and production of The Play's the Thing, by P.G. Wodehouse. Presented by Willamette STAGE Company, the play kicked off the annual Da Vinci Days Festival.
OSU alumni and friends painted a section of downtown orange during the 2011 Portland Rose Festival when more than 100 President's Circle donors and family members gathered to enjoy the Grand Floral Parade. Participants were treated to lunch, OSU keepsakes, and reserved seating to take in all the sights and sounds of parade pageantry.
On Tuesday, May 31, 2011, Oregon State University celebrated the construction launch for its newest student-support project, the Student Success Center. The planned $14 million facility will be home to academic support programs like BEST and September Scholars when completed in June 2012.
Faculty Excellence EventAt the Recognizing Faculty Excellence event on May 4, 2011, Oregon State University honored its newest Distinguished Professors and recognized faculty holding endowed positions and members of prestigious national academies.
On Tuesday, April 26, 2011, members of the OSU President’s Circle, 1868 Society, and Benton Hall Legacy Society joined President Edward J. Ray for a reception and student showcase featuring vocal, theatrical, and other fine arts ensembles.
Chris Botti with the Corvallis-OSU Symphony ConcertOn Friday, April 1, 2011, local members of the Strand, Jensen, and Harris levels of the 1868 Society enjoyed a reception before the Corvallis-OSU Symphony concert, which featured Corvallis native trumpeter, Chris Botti.
On April 2, 2011, 130 alumni and friends enjoyed a reception at the Heathman Hotel in downtown Portland. The reception was held prior to OSU Night at the Symphony, where the Oregon Symphony took the audience, including 300 Beaver Believers, on a “Classical Mystery Tour” that featured music by the Beatles.
During the reception, President Ed Ray explained how OSU benefits Portland and all of Oregon through music education by being the school for music teacher education. Guests also heard about how students involved with OSU music programs are travelling worldwide to share their talents.
Destination OSU 2011 was a wonderful time of reconnection and celebration as more than 200 alumni and friends met in the California desert.
This 11th annual gathering featured a golf tournament, presentations by OSU faculty, plus an awards gala honoring four extraordinary Oregon State University alumni.
Oregon State University friends, faculty, staff, and students joined President Ed Ray and members of the Campaign Steering Committee as OSU launched its first campus-wide fundraising effort on Oct. 26, 2007. A multimedia celebration at the LaSells Stewart Center highlighted students and faculty whose groundbreaking work is reaching throughout the state and around the world.
